Design does not start at the drawing board. It starts on the factory floor.
Yira Wu is the Chairman of SHUTER Enterprise and the Design Director of livinbox.Educated at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, he returned to Taiwan to continue a family manufacturing legacy — not by preserving tradition, but by redefining it through design.
Rather than separating design from production, Yira believes that true design emerges from understanding materials, processes, and human behavior — inside the factory and beyond.
Design Philosophy
For Yira, storage is not about containers — it is about how people live, move, and interact with space. His design approach begins with observing everyday behavior: how hands reach, how objects are placed, how space is used — and often misused. Good design, in his view, does not add complexity. It removes friction.
Manufacturing as Design
Unlike conventional designers, Yira designs within the realities of mass production. With decades of hands-on manufacturing experience, every livinbox product is shaped by a deep understanding of materials, tooling, mold limitations, and scalability. This integration of design thinking and manufacturing expertise allows livinbox to create products that are not only expressive, but also practical, durable, and scalable.
Six Design Strategy
The Six Design Strategy is a framework developed through real-world manufacturing and global market experience. It transforms observation into action — enabling livinbox to move beyond trends and develop storage systems that are adaptable, human-centered, and long-lasting. This strategy connects design intention with industrial reality.
Babbuza Dreamfactory
The Babbuza Dreamfactory represents his belief that manufacturing, sustainability, culture, and public experience can coexist — transforming a factory into a platform for learning, interaction, and future-oriented production.
Design × Manufacturing × Sustainability × Culture
The Physical Manifestation of livinbox Philosophy that Why Yira built this place. Yira Wu’s work reflects a belief that design gains meaning only when it improves daily life — quietly, naturally, and responsibly. At livinbox, design is not decoration. It is a system.
