Design Manifesto I Selected Works
Design principles that guide everything we create.
These principles are not abstract ideas. They are applied across every livinbox product — from structure and material choice to how each item is used in daily life.
◆ Redefine Storage
◆ Reclaim Space
◆ Form is Function
◆ Challenge the Expected
◆ Design for Objects Without Homes
Pelican Stackable Storage Bin (Challenge the Expected)
The Pelican Stackable Storage Bin challenges the long-standing assumption that stacked storage must limit accessibility. Rather than forcing users to unstack or move multiple units, the design introduces a sloped opening guided by natural hand movement. This unexpected yet intuitive form redefines how stacking works, transforming it from passive storage into an active interaction. The result is a patented modular system that questions conventional storage behavior and replaces it with a more efficient, user-centered experience.
Collapsible Crate Series (Reclaim Space)
The Collapsible Crate Series embodies livinbox’s belief in reclaiming space as a core design responsibility. Instead of accepting that storage must occupy volume at all times, the design rethinks what happens when storage is not in use. By allowing the crate to collapse to under 10 cm while retaining stackability and load strength, space is returned to the user and the environment. This solution demonstrates how thoughtful design can reduce spatial waste across homes, retail logistics, and mobile storage systems—without sacrificing performance.
Industrial Stacking Toolboxes (Form is Function)
Taiwan’s first plastic toolbox is a clear expression of the principle that form is not decoration, but function made visible. Every design decision—from the impact-resistant plastic body to the patented quick-latch system and ergonomic stacking—serves a practical purpose rooted in safety, durability, and ease of use. By abandoning the traditional metal form, the toolbox demonstrates how functional requirements can directly shape a new visual language, creating a product that is both technically superior and instantly recognizable.
Design Begins Where Life Is Lived
Design is not about adding more, but about understanding how space is truly used. When form follows behavior, storage becomes intuitive. When systems are allowed to adapt and evolve, space gains flexibility. And when responsibility guides every decision, design earns its longevity. For Yira Wu, design only gains meaning when it improves daily life—quietly, naturally, and responsibly. It does not begin at the drawing board. It begins on the factory floor.
